Amanda Linnemeyer

YA Robin-Hood-Meets-Dragons Fantasy
ALL THAT GLITTERS IN SHADOWS 95,000 words
Amanda Linnemyer was born and raised in Portland, Oregon as the only girl with two older and two younger brothers. She was high school valedictorian before attending Brigham Young University and graduating Cum Laude with an English degree and emphasis in creative writing (though she never managed to make it through the waitlist for Brandon Sanderson’s class).
Amanda and her physician husband have been married since August 2013. They have two incredible daughters who are polar opposites of each other, and a pup who is part of the family. Now that her husband is Active Dutyin the Air Force, they currently live in Florida and are trying to convince themselves to be more outdoorsy since they live thirty minutes from the beautiful beaches in Destin.
With her younger child getting ready to start kindergarten, Amanda is looking forward to having more time to both read and write during the day. When not writing, Amanda enjoys crafting, baking, speed puzzling, building whatever she can get her hands on (whether that be Legos or furniture) and bowling. She and her husband enjoy reading aloud together and are currently reading their sixty-second book together.
Amanda is hoping to follow in Brandon Sanderson’s shoes and get to the point where she’s putting out several books each year. She writes YA, NA, and adult novels focusing mostly on fantasy/speculative, but loves to blend genres and play with format. Her YA dystopian Symbiotes will be republished with Rowan Prose Publishing in 2027 and her first adult novel Hollow Daggers will be published in summer 2026 with Whimsillusion Publishing. She has more book ideas than she’ll ever be able to write, but that won’t stop her from trying to get as many on paper and into the hands of readers as possible. ALL THAT GLITTERS IN THE SHADOWS will be her second YA book and is inspired by the idea of people not knowing dragons are among them.
Pitch
A kleptomaniac with a penchant for gold teams up with a handsome king and his mysterious guard to hunt the magic stealing Shadow Reaper before she loses her life and her heart.
Opening Lines
Orielle clung to the underside of the carriage with shaky knees as she rubbed her hands together, warming up her magic. The earthy taste of leather filled her mouth from biting down on her black gloves—the safest way to make sure she didn’t drop them. Her heart thundered as she placed her palms, fingers splayed, on the rough wood only inches from her face. Then she concentrated on the fire always roiling within her.
