I am building my list with a focus on YA in all subgenres except tech-heavy science fiction. I love manuscripts with vivid characters and a faster plot that keeps you reading way past your bedtime.

 

My knowledge of YA is extensive, as I've been reading the genre for over twenty years and freelance edited YA novels for two. From incons like Meg Cabot and Sarah Dessen to rising stars like K.L. Walther, Rebecca Danzenbaker, and Laura Taylor Namey, I love them all.  

 

I’m a fan of both contemporary settings and fantastical ones as long as there is a clear story arc. Strong female protagonists are my favorite (girl power!), but I also enjoy diverse perspectives. Bonus points if the book is about mermaids or is a holiday fantasy story.

 

Please only submit manuscripts with a protagonist that’s 15 or up.

New Adult

​I am specifically open to new adult romance titles featuring characters under twenty-five and focused on coming-of-age stories. Crossovers between YA and NA are of interest.

 

Romance

Witchy and cozy fantasy romances will always be on my TBR. If you have a book like The Kiss Curse, Love’s a Witch or The Nightmare Before Kissmas, I want to read it. Any spice level is fine with spicier preferred. If your manuscript does not feature witches, but has other paranormal elements, that’s fine! I do not accept any adult books other than this criteria.

I am not a good fit for:

• Gory and paranormal horror. Thrillers are okay, but I prefer to not have nightmares.

• Anything faith-based.

• Stories that demean women.

• Books where the main character dies. Whether the death is from an illness or sacrificial à la Divergent, I get too attached to characters to not see them make it in the end.

• Anything where an animal dies. Dog, cat, horse, you name it. My heart won’t be able to take it.
